Wow! What a difference. For Gone in 60 Seconds it was 26 years between the original & the
remake and the difference between the 2 posters is… well, extreme considering
today’s audience.
1974’s version of the poster has a lot on it. The ‘cover
art’ is busy with several different images overlapping each other. The images
are soft, almost to the point of being out of focus, and disjointed, as if
someone took a handful of old photos and thru them on the desk, printing them
where they landed. The banner across the top is excessive and detracts from the
rest of the poster and the font used on the movie’s title makes you wonder if
the film is about hillbillies or beach bums.
2000’s version of the poster is much cleaner in comparison.
The title is clean and designed to catch your eye, at just a glance it jumps at
you, you certainly don’t have to look for it. The title is also done in a
leaning or possibly italicized font that gives you the impression that they are
racing forward and will soon be gone. The images are sharp and not confused,
one car that appears to be screaming down the road and the 2 main characters
that look the part. Clean, clear with vibrant colors and a title that draws you
to it. Certainly no hillbillies there…
